Do you know a person or group who has significantly improved their community environment? Is it safer, cleaner, greener, friendlier or more fun because of someone or something a group of people have done? It could be a small project that has made a big difference or an on-going effort to enhance the area. Tell everyone about the improvement that has made your community a better place to be.

Founded in 2006
Founded in 2006, Friends of Bolsover Parks is a small group of volunteers who came together to: ' work alone, or with partners, to develop and maintain Bolsover's parks and play areas, to preserve, promote and develop them for the benefit of our community.' Our Constitution sets out how we operate.
We originally came together to improve Hornscroft Park, which at the time was derelict. We later broadened our scope and supported Old Bolsover Town's Play & Recreation project to seek funding to improve all five parks in the Bolsover area: Hornscroft, Vale; King George V Playing Fields; Stanfree; and Shuttlewood Parks.
Our group's primary focus continues to be Hornscroft Park. And we are delighted our bid to The Big Lottery, Community Spaces fund to develop the old bowling green was successful. Check out The Bowl our exciting project to create a beautiful garden and open-air entertainment space. If you wish to book The Bowl, The Town Council are responsible for future events and you should contact Andrew Tristram , Town Clerk, Old Bolsover Town Council, Telephone 01246 823809.
In 2009 we resurrected Bolsover Gala (held on Hornscroft Park) to celebrate the improvements made. The gala was a great success and we've continued every year keeping to a regular date - the last Sunday in June. Each year it's got bigger and better, helped by fantastic sunny weather.
